“Mile Sur Mera Tumhaara toh Sur Banee Humaara”, as a kid when I watched this song, I was amazed how that one line is being sung in 15 different languages. I could see women who wore saree not in the same way as my mother does. I saw the beautiful country side, so many music instruments and various ways of expressing the same theme. Later whenever I saw this video, it gave me the sense of how our cultural diversity and its integrity being showcased in a beautiful, crisp and pure form.
The new one!!!! I did not really understand the purpose of its making. Was it meant to represent our national integrity with a blend of old and new generations or was it just another bollywood remake music video? When I saw ARR playing the keyboard I expected it to create some good impact. But it was just a disaster.
Few questions my mind asked:
In previous version, the ending was so excellent that you get the real feel of national anthem. The new one is no match for that. In the new one, I liked the hearing and speech impaired children contributing their part.
It was a good idea to re-launch the song but instead of concentrating on “real” India they just seemed trying hard to satisfy the vanity of each star involved in this video. The older one too had actors but they were shown as any other common man and their presence was well blended with each region and language.
I still prefer the old version and feel that the crisp 6+mins is enough to show any foreign audience how our lives are beautifully tied up together with various cultures and languages.
At least now whoever wants to recreate a classic video/play/movie should do proper ground work and try not to spoil the sentiment that old version tried to convey.

i totally agree with you. its a real disparaging act...putting deepika padukone in her mini dress in the so called new age national anthem...where are our olympic medal holders...why only actors--mass appeal is a misnomer--- its a typecasted mindset. there are more heros than those in the movies to whom the masses can connect!
hey ... agree with you ... i felt the indianism was missing somewhere .... there was no cricketer, no hockey player .... in the past 20 yrs India has progressed so much in the field of businees and emerged as a super power... none to showcase that .......more of actors and actresses.... and ladies were few in number ..... evn when it cam eto represent states .... no young politicians like sachin pilot, rahul gandhi or someone from their lot ............ well i prefer the old one for sure.......

Very True. Good Post. New version is real disgrace and completely disappointed the way the screening. Is this a song for national integrity or for film stars???
Someone should make zoom realize that. Go back and look at the older version. I will give 5/5 for that.. I am not able to rate the new one. Can anyone do that....
Its seems they recreated it to satisfy stars. Not doing the real purpose.

Old one was a classic...this one doesnt give any feelings...and best part is me missing in this video :)
1) Where are legendary actors like nageswar rao...kamal hasan..and ofcouse how can they miss our chiranjeevi,nagarajun. They have tried to put the whole bolloywood into the song .
2) Instead of mahesh babu they might have shown charminar and our tank bund with budha in the middle.
Probably thats the current government / political party propaganda machine working to feed this as our culture instead of what India really stand for!
